How does the University of Elk Hunting ONLINE COURSE work?
The ONLINE COURSE is categorized in 17 separate Modules, or sections. Each Module focuses on different aspects of elk hunting. Within each Module, there are Chapters - or sub-categories - that will further focus on detailed topics within each category. There are a total of 38 Chapters within the Course, with more Chapters being added all the time.
You can start with the first Module and work through the Course chronologically, or you can jump around and check out whichever Modules and Chapters interest you the most. There is a simple table of contents that will help you navigate from one Module to another, with easy-to-follow buttons and arrows on each page within the Course to help you move smoothly back and forth between the Chapters.
How long do I have access to the University of Elk Hunting ONLINE COURSE?
When you sign up for a Membership to the University of Elk Hunting ONLINE COURSE, you will receive immediate access to all of the content within the Course. An account will be set up for you when you checkout, and you will be able to return and Log-In to the course at anytime. Your active Membership grants you full access to the ONLINE COURSE and you are able to go back and access all of the content over and over, as often as you would like.
Access to the University of Elk Hunting ONLINE COURSE is provided through a Membership platform. There are 3 levels of Membership to choose from (Basic, Elite, and Platinum), and all 3 levels provide you with Full Access to the Online Course. Is the information within the course tailored more for beginners or advanced elk hunters?
Yes. :-) The information found within the course is valuable for every level of elk hunting experience, regardless of weapon or season. From pre-rut and rut hunting, all the way to post-rut and late-season, the Online Course will provide you with information to make you successful regardless of your season, weapon, or experience. If you've only ever dreamed of elk hunting, but aren't sure where to start, you'll find it all here. If you've hunted elk, but never tasted success, this course will give you the tools you need to fill your tag. For the elk hunter who has tasted success, but wants to improve the consistency of their success, you're going to find advanced knowledge and tactics aimed at not only helping you be successful, but consistently successful. Even if you've hunted elk for 30 years or more and fill your tag every season, there are elements of this course that you will find helpful and beneficial!
Is the information presented in writing or video format?
The content contained within the Online Course is a mixture of written instruction, diagrams and images, and high quality video components that will visually demonstrate and explain multiple topics.
How long will it take me to complete the course?
That completely depends upon how thoroughly you engage with the information. However, there are nearly 40 webpages of detailed information, tactics, strategies, and instruction, so you aren't going to simply sit down in one evening and make it through the course. Realistically, if you are absorbing the information and taking notes, you should plan on an hour or so each day for 2-3 weeks. You could easily sit down and skim through everything in 5-6 hours, but to watch all the video components and truly learn from the material, it's going to be a process.
Can I retake the course once I've completed it?
Absolutely! You will have full access to the Online Course as long as your Membership is active.
How do I cancel my Membership?
Cancelling your Membership is easy and can be done at any time (just visit the Member Log-in page to cancel). Be aware that when you cancel your Membership, your access to the Online Course will be discontinued immediately, and there are no refunds once you sign up.
Will there be quizzes or tests or completion certificates?
No, there are no quizzes, tests, or homework. However, the real test will be given this fall when you put the information to use... :-)
Do I need an internet connection to access the course?
For right now, yes. However, a mobile app for offline viewing will be coming in June 2017!!!
Why does a Membership cost so much?
That is a great question! The value of the Online Course alone is well over $300. In fact, a highly respected online course consultant valued this Course at nearly $700! But, I do understand that money is money, and it's not easy to part with it regardless of the claimed value. However, for the cost of two tanks of gas, a Basic Membership will provide you with full access to over 30 years of elk hunting knowledge, experience, and lessons learned aimed at improving your success as an elk hunter. And for an extra $20, Elite Members get even more - much more! Hunters pay hundreds (or thousands) of dollars on licenses, tags, boots, backpacks, weapons, fuel, and other gear every year. I truly feel that investing a couple tanks worth of gas into YOU is a pretty worthwhile investment that will bring more success than any other expenditures you might make.
Are individual Modules available to purchase separately?
No. Your Membership will provide access to the full course.
How does this course differ from the original University of Elk Hunting DVD?
The University of Elk Hunting DVD that was produced by Elk101.com touched briefly on some of the same topics that the ONLINE COURSE covers. However, there is so much more that is able to be accomplished through a digital platform like a website than could ever be covered in a DVD. Additionally, one of the common comments regarding the DVD was that hunters were ready for more advanced information. The ONLINE COURSE takes all of the original information and refines it, and then builds upon it in multiple ways. Think of the DVD as an introduction to or overview of elk hunting. Think of the ONLINE COURSE as the encyclopedia of elk hunting!
If I sign up for the course, do you guarantee success?
I wish I could, but I can't. Achieving success is still up to you. I will provide you with everything I know about elk hunting - and more. I am certain that if the information is studied and applied correctly, it will absolutely increase the confidence and success of anyone who signs up. But, even with all of this information, it's still going to be up to you to put in the work and make it happen. You will definitely have all the tools and resources necessary to be successful, but you're not going to find an elk tied up to a tree when you are finished. If that is what you're looking for, you're probably not in the right place... :-)
What makes you qualified to provide this information?
I am not a professional elk hunter, or a professional educator. I am simply a husband, a father of three awesome children, an engineer by education, and a general contractor by profession. But I am also a lifelong elk hunter with a passion for elk and elk hunting, and a passion for seeing others be successful. My intent with this online course is not to wow you with my incredible elk hunting knowledge or success. In fact, it's quite the opposite. I recognize that I am a student of this amazing world of elk hunting, and I simply want to share what I've learned in 30+ years of elk hunting in the hopes that you will be able to experience the thrill of elk hunting and the taste of consistent success.
I have learned that confidence is vital to consistent success, and this course is designed to increase your confidence in every aspect of elk hunting. I will provide for you every single resource, tactic, strategy, mistake, success, and motivation that I have found and that I use myself in the hopes that your confidence will increase to the point that you know you will be successful each season.
