We are up and at em early and on top of the hill where I saw the two bulls on the first day of scouting. There was some decent bugling action in the dark and we heard a bull that sounds big just off the ridge we are on and in the dark timber. We set up with me out front and the callers and cameraman behind and downwind. The bull came in hard and we had to reset 3 different times to keep the wind in our favor. When he got to within 100 yards he smelled us and headed in the other direction. After that encounter, we headed down the hill onto the flat and called in a couple other bulls, but nothing bigger than 280”. A couple hours later we made a big loop and ended up where we started. As soon as we dropped off the backside into the dark timber we called and a little raghorn got up out of his bed and walked within 25 yards of us! That was pretty cool.
Tonight was a bust. After going back and getting my truck which was parked 1.5 miles away, however, we saw a tremendous bull in the headlights in a meadow rounding up his herd. This bull was incredible with 2 foot sword points and 18”-20” fifths and another two feet between his fifth point and the end of his main beam. I figured he was a 380” class bull. Wow, and he was only a couple hundred yards from my parked truck!!
