Dirk Durham

Dirk Durham found his first love - hunting big North Idaho whitetail bucks - at the age of thirteen. That is, until he was swept away by hunting bugling bulls at age 15. Since then it has become an obsession that only very serious elk hunters can understand. With elk hunting fueling his passion, he has competed at the RMEF’s World Elk Calling Championships taking 2) first place trophies, 2) second place trophies, and a few other final round appearances.  After chasing bulls for twenty years with archery tackle & firearms, he prefers hunting solo, but finds hunting with friends rewarding as well. Being mostly self taught through trial and error, he has a wealth of information to pass on to fellow hunters.

As an Idaho native he has been fortunate enough to have taken elk, whitetail deer, mule deer, black bear, turkey, coyotes, and other small game.

With Dirk’s son, Austin, now being of age to hunt, he finds great enjoyment passing on the secrets taken from the mountains. Dirk also mentors his daughter Samantha in big game hunting and looks forward to time spent each fall hunting with his kids.

Dirk and his patient wife, Jessica, live in Moscow, Idaho and Dirk is employeed at Nightforce Optics in Orofino.
