Corey JacobsenThis is crazy…unbelievably huge…
Good friend Jay Scott (www.jayscottoutdoors.com) guided Michael Park’s to his 42nd elk with a bow. And what a bull it is! Here is what Jay said about the bull:
“Here are a few more pictures of Michael’s hog! This bull was glassed up by Cody Nelson and his sidekick Cody Goff. This bull was nicknamed “Nellie” We have taped him twice and came up with 425-427 gross and he is awesome! More photos to come and story! Michael heart shot this bull with a perfect shot and this was his 42 elk with a bow and arrow.”

Corey JacobsenMan, there have been some great bulls shot already this year! We’re going to start posting some pictures and stories each day from this season’s hunts from all of you! I can’t think of a better way to start it off than with this bull…
Good friend Cathy Tino drew an awesome elk tag in Utah and hunted public land to take this monster on the first morning of her hunt! Here is what she had to say about the hunt, “OK…I proved I can’t shop…shot this 7X8 a half hour into the hunt at 40 yards…one shot as he was pushing his cow past and he hunched up and tipped over! The pack out was sweet too…He scored 358 with his G-3 broken the day before fighting and he also broke his 7th point. He has a split G-2 and 10 inch bases. Can’t say I’d pass him if I had it to do over…great hunt!
He also is pretty tasty for a big bull – maybe all the acorns he was eating!”

Congrats Cathy!

Tony MuddI just returned from helping a friend, Bob Heddy, chase elk in Nevada. This was his 1st archery kill, although he’s been shooting archery for years and is a die hard PSE fan. Over the last couple years we have been shooting a little 3D together. I caught Bob’s first archery kill all on HD video tape, we got some incredible footage!! Bob has guided sheep hunters for years and hunted in Nevada all his life. His comment to me was ”That was the most exciting thing I have ever done, not even my desert sheep can compare to what just happened!!” Bob was shooting PSE’s X-Force, Carbon Force arrows and a 2 bladed Rage broadhead which turned a marginal hit into an absolutely incredible blood trail.

Corey JacobsenThe skies had cleared last night before we fell asleep and I had hopes of waking up to a cold, clear morning. It was clear, but it was far from cold. With pre-daylight temps in the high 50’s, I knew our window of opportunity was going to once again be very small. We quickly got our packs ready and headed down the ridge into the canyon. A location bugle elicited an immediate response from “our bull”, and the game was on. Read the rest of this entry »
Corey JacobsenThe cloud cover from last night’s storm didn’t help cool things off this morning. It was warm. Even for August 31, it was warm. We knew we wouldn’t have a lot of time to get the bull fired up, so we were on the hillside across from where we had seen him last night before the first hints of daylight. I let out a location bugle and was immediately answered by the bull 500 yards down the canyon below us. The wind was going his direction, so we began a wide swing to the east hoping to drop down to his level without being winded.

Corey JacobsenMy son, Sam, and I got camp set up on Friday night and hiked in to check out the trail camera. Lots of pictures, but not the big bull I was hoping to see! Sam did awesome and demanded that he hike the entire distance…about 1/2 mile. Saturday, I met my wife and she took Sam back home. Donnie showed up that evening and got his side of camp all squared away and ready for the adventure. The sky lit up at dark with an impressive lightning storm that was followed by a good, heavy rain.
